FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a fine line tattoo?
A fine line tattoo uses a single needle or small needle grouping to create delicate, thin lines. This technique suits minimalist florals, geometric patterns, micro-realistic artwork, and other designs where detail matters more than boldness.
How much does a fine line tattoo cost in Helsinki?
Fine line tattoos start at €150 for small designs (under 5cm). Medium designs (5–15cm) typically range from €250–400. Larger pieces are quoted individually based on complexity and placement.
What determines the price of a tattoo?
Pricing depends on size, complexity, level of detail, and placement on the body. Areas with complex anatomy or sensitivity may take more time. I provide a clear quote after reviewing your design idea during the booking process.
Do fine line tattoos fade faster than regular tattoos?
Fine line tattoos can soften slightly over time, as all tattoos do, but with proper aftercare and sun protection they hold up well for many years. Follow the aftercare instructions carefully during the first 4 weeks and use sunscreen long-term.
How long do fine line tattoos last?
Fine line tattoos are permanent. Over years they may soften slightly, which many people actually prefer — it gives them a more lived-in look. Good aftercare and sun protection slow this process down. Touch-ups are available if needed.
Do fine line tattoos need touch-ups?
Not always. Many fine line tattoos heal perfectly without touch-ups. In some cases, small areas may need touching up after healing — this depends on your skin type, placement, and aftercare. I offer touch-ups within the first 3 months if needed.
Can fine line tattoos be done in color?
Yes, fine line tattoos can incorporate subtle color. Soft pastels and muted tones work well, and watercolor-style accents are a popular choice. Send me references of what you like when you book and we will figure out the palette together.
How long does a fine line tattoo session take?
A small fine line tattoo typically takes 1–2 hours. Medium designs may take 2–4 hours. Larger or more detailed pieces may require multiple sessions. I will give you a time estimate when confirming your booking.
How do I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Get a good night's sleep, eat a meal before your appointment, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area. Moisturize the area in the days leading up to your appointment.
Can I bring my own design?
Absolutely. You can bring reference images, sketches, or rough ideas and we will develop the design together from there. Every tattoo I create is a custom, hand-drawn piece — nothing is copied from flash sheets or templates.
When can I go to the sauna after a new tattoo?
Wait at least 4 weeks before going to the sauna. The heat, moisture, and steam can damage a healing tattoo and increase the risk of infection. This applies to both traditional Finnish saunas and steam rooms. Swimming in pools, lakes, or the sea should also wait 4 weeks.
How old do you have to be to get a tattoo in Finland?
In Finland, you must be 18 years old to get a tattoo. There are no exceptions with parental consent. A valid ID is required at your appointment.
Can tourists get tattoos in Helsinki?
Yes, tourists are very welcome. You can book through the website — I recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance so we have time to finalize your design before your visit.
Do I need to tip my tattoo artist in Finland?
Tipping is not expected or common in Finland. The quoted price is the full price. If you love your tattoo, the best way to show appreciation is by leaving a review or sharing it on social media.
Is this your first tattoo? What should I know?
Fine line tattoos are generally less painful than traditional styles because finer needles are used. I will explain everything at your appointment — what to expect, how it feels, and how to care for it after. Many of my clients are first-timers.
